Understanding the Energy System: The Seven Chakra and Peak Flow

Why the rainbow?

Color and energy are closely linked, with our chakras associated with rainbow colors. Colors are an integral part of our world, and they can have a powerful impact on our emotions and behavior. Colors can evoke a range of feelings, from happiness to sadness, and they can be used to create a sense of harmony or discord. From the vibrant hues of a rainbow to the subtle shades of nature, colors have the ability to influence how we perceive and interact with the world around us.

Exploring the Seven Major Chakras: Colors, Crystals, and Imbalances

Within the body lie seven vital energy centers known as chakra. In Sanskrit, chakra means “wheel” or “circle”. A chakra is a vortex, or current, that is a constantly revolving wheel of energy. These vortexes connect and distribute the life force energies through the physical and subtle bodies. They are the source of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual energy. It is through these chakra that life energy continuously flows.

Each chakra is associated with and stimulated by specific colors and crystals. When we are balanced, our energies flow freely. Imbalances caused by blockages to our life energy produce a wide array of ailments and disturbances.

By clearing obstructions in our chakra, we can rebalance and re-energize our life force. To benefit from a crystal's energy, you can carry it with you, place it near where you spend a lot of time, or wear it as jewelry.

How Does It Work?

Everything is energy. Humans are like electrical grids with many spinning wheels of energy known as chakras; the main seven chakras align with the spine. At our peak, our energy flows throughout our bodies from head to toe in a clockwise pattern. Periodically, stress, fatigue, illness, or injury may cause our energy to become sluggish or blocked in places.

Now think of a rock...stone...healing crystal...whichever terms are most comfortable for you. Formed millions of years ago, its vibrational energy is steady and constant, thanks to its fixed geometrical structure and mineral composition. Meanwhile, a person’s composition is mainly water/fluid and soft tissue, and the energy fluctuates regularly and can get stagnant or “stuck.” Fortunately, a crystal’s vibrational energy can act like a tuning fork to readjust the person’s energy into a more steady vibration. Better energy flow, better health!

Some people meditate with crystals, holding them in their hands or placing them on different chakras on their bodies to help balance and align their energy centers. The key is to find what works best for you and listen to your inner voice. Specific crystals help guide you in the right direction and assist you in your healing journey. Trust your intuition.

Remember, crystals are not a quick fix or a cure-all, but they can certainly enhance your well-being and support you in achieving a more balanced and harmonious state of mind, body, and spirit. When using crystals for healing, it is important to follow your instincts and not go against your belief system. Crystals can complement medical treatment, but should not be used as a substitute.

Which crystals do I start with for overall well-being?

I am often asked this question. I suggest starting with each color and crystal associated with the chakras. From there, you can explore other crystals and learn about their energies as you expand your crystal collection. The following is a guideline to the meaning behind each chakra…

The CROWN chakra – 7th Chakra

  • Color:  violet (enlightenment), white, or transparent (purity, perfection, and bliss).

  • Location:  top of your head

  • Representation: union - a state of higher consciousness and divine connection.

  • Endocrine System:  pineal gland

The pineal gland looks after our cerebrum (upper brain) and right eye. The pineal gland, located near the brain's center, plays a crucial role in regulating the sleep-wake cycle and producing melatonin. It also helps maintain the cerebrum's health, the most significant part of the brain responsible for higher functions such as reasoning and problem-solving. Additionally, the pineal gland is connected to the right eye, helping to synchronize the body's internal clock with external light cues.

Balancing brings about union (a state of harmony), intuitive knowing, wisdom, selflessness, and spiritual connection.

Symptoms of imbalances in the Crown Chakra: Depression, mood swings, stomach ulcers, disruption in sleep patterns, hormonal imbalance, memory issues, vision changes, nausea, eye pain, nasal congestion.

It controls the production of essential hormones for growth, metabolism, and reproduction. In addition to its hormonal functions, the pituitary gland also plays a crucial role in maintaining the health of our facial features, left eye, ears, nose, sinuses, cerebellum, and central nervous System. Its intricate connections and influences throughout the body are vital to our overall well-being.

Without a properly functioning thyroid gland, we may experience fatigue, weight gain, dry skin, and mood swings. To ensure optimal health and well-being, take care of your thyroid gland with a balanced diet, regular exercise, and managing stress levels.

Imbalances in this area can lead to feelings of anxiety, fear, or digestive issues. We can build a strong foundation for overall well-being and vitality by nurturing our emotional center.

Our emotional center is like the captain of a ship, directing and overseeing the intricate workings of our body's vital organs. Just as the pancreas diligently regulates our blood sugar levels, it also plays a crucial role in our emotional well-being. The lower back, abdomen, and digestive System all work in harmony under the guidance of this center, ensuring that we can digest and process the experiences and emotions that come our way.
